Grade Level Learning Objectives

 

KINDERGARTEN

 
 


Kindergarten Learning Objectives—Students will:

  1. Identify the basic computer components
  1. Independently log on and off the computer
  1. Learn to care for the computer & removable media
  1. Operate the mouse (selecting, clicking, double-clicking, dragging)
  1. Identify the use of letters, numbers, and other keys on the keyboard
  1. Be able to open and exit software programs
  1. Be introduced to typing simple words
  1. Be able to independently find his seat in the computer lab
  1. Be introduced to and gain independence in the use of Accelerated Reader
  1. Have the opportunity to create pictures using drawing tools
  1. Show responsibility when using the computer & removable media

 

 

 

 

FIRST

 

   GRADE

 
1st Grade Learning Objectives—Students will:

  1. Locate the letters on the keyboard to type words and sentences
  1. Edit text using the arrow and delete keys
  1. Properly type punctuation
  1. Correctly use the enter and space keys
  1. Be introduced to the concept of the home row
  1. Successfully operate the mouse and keyboard on a regular basis
  1. Use correct keyboarding posture
  1. Move from dependence to independence in the use of Accelerated Reader
  1. Be introduced to concept mapping using Kidspiration
  1. Have the opportunity to create pictures using drawing tools
  1. Independently identify the basic computer components
  1. Independently log on and off the computer
  1. Continue to learn to care for the computer & removable media

 

 

 




 

 

2nd Grade Learning Objectives—Students will:

1.      Continue learning about proper finger placement and the home row

2.     

SECOND

Continue to locate the letters on the keyboard to type words, sentences and eventually paragraphs and reports

3.      Edit text using the arrow and delete keys

4.      Properly type punctuation

5.      Correctly use the enter and space keys

6.      Appropriately use left and right hands on the keyboard

7.      Successfully operate the mouse and keyboard on a regular basis

8.      Use correct keyboarding posture

9.      Use Accelerated Reader independently

10.  Be introduced to prewriting skills such as concept maps or graphic organizers using Kidspiration

11.  Have the opportunity to create pictures using drawing tools

12.  Independently identify the basic computer components

13.  Independently log on and off the computer

14.  Continue to learn to care for the computer & removable media

15.  Be introduced to Microsoft Word and the concepts of files, saving to network folders, formatting text, and tab indentation, spell check, cutting & pasting text, and printing.

3rd Grade Learning Objectives—Students will:

1.      Have formal introduction to keyboarding (touch typing)

2.      Demonstrate proper hand placement on home row

3.      Demonstrate correct reaches and technique for all keys

4.      Demonstrate correct keyboarding posture

5.      Write, edit, proofread, spell, save to network folders, and publish using a word processing program

6.      Continue to use Accelerated Reader independently

7.      Be introduced to electronic sources of information

8.      Be introduced to the World Wide Web via a formal unit on safety, terminology, and internet functions

9.      Independently identify the basic computer components

10.  Continue to learn to care for the computer & removable media

11.  Use Kidspiration to do pre-writing tasks

12.  Continue to learn about the aspects of computer ethics

 


 

4th Grade Learning Objectives—Students will:

2.      Regularly practice proper hand placement on home row

3.      Regularly practice correct reaches and technique for all keys

4.      Regularly practice correct keyboarding posture

5.      Show an improvement in speed and accuracy with touch typing

6.      Write, edit, proofread, spell, save to network folders, and publish using a word processing program

7.      Be introduced to file organization through the use of folders and naming conventions

8.      Use keyboarding to complete cross-curricular assignments

9.      Continue to use Accelerated Reader independently

10.  Be introduced to electronic sources of information

11.  Be introduced to the World Wide Web via a formal unit on safety, terminology, and internet functions

12.  Independently identify the basic computer components

13.  Continue to learn to care for the computer & removable media

14.  Use Inspiration to do prewriting tasks

2.      Keyboard at 20 wpm using touch typing skills

3.      Write, edit, proofread, spell, save, and publish using a word processing program

4.      Continue to work with file organization through the use of folders and naming conventions

5.      Use Inspiration to do pre-writing tasks

6.      Utilize electronic sources of information to complete cross-curricular assignments

7.      Continue use of the World Wide Web with lessons regarding safety, terminology, and internet functions

8.      Work with younger students to help them better understand computer concepts

9.      Continue to care for the computer & removable media

10.  Be introduced to multimedia presentations and the specific skills required to create them

11.  Be introduced to a basic spreadsheet as a means of organizing data; perform simple functions such as sort

12.  Continue to use Accelerated Reader independently; be introduced to some of the more advanced functions of AR

13.  Discuss and adhere to strict computer ethics as cross-curricular activities are completed

5.      Utilize electronic sources of information to complete cross-curricular assignments

6.      Continue to work with file organization through the use of folders and naming conventions

7.      Continue use of the World Wide Web with lessons regarding safety, terminology, and internet functions

8.      Work with younger students to help them better understand computer concepts

9.      Continue to care for the computer & removable media

10.  Use multimedia presentations to complete cross-curricular assignments

11.  Use digital photography to enhance multi-media presentations (scanner, digital camera, photo-editing)

12.  Continue working with spreadsheets as a means of organizing data

13.  Be introduced to spreadsheets as a means of performing math functions

4.      Use Inspiration to do pre-writing, pre-web designing tasks

5.      Utilize electronic sources of information to complete cross-curricular assignments

6.      Continue use of the World Wide Web with lessons regarding safety, terminology, and internet functions

7.      Work with younger students to help them better understand computer concepts

8.      Continue to care for the computer & removable media

9.      Use multimedia presentations to complete cross-curricular assignments

10.  Continue to work with file organization through the use of folders and naming conventions

11.  Properly use spreadsheets as a means of performing math functions & organizing data

12.  Continue to use Accelerated Reader independently; continue to utilize some of the more advanced functions of AR

13.  Discuss and adhere to strict computer ethics as website development takes place
