CIRCULATION POLICY – LIBRARY MEDIA SERVICES

1.      Books may be checked out for one week for students in kindergarten through fourth grade, and two weeks for students in fifth through eighth grade.

2.      Books may be renewed.

3.      Students are limited to two Accelerated Reader titles at one time, but they may check out up to three books total.

4.      Overdue book lists are distributed to all classrooms on a weekly basis. Students with overdue books will have their library privileges suspended, pending the prompt return of the book(s) or payment of the replacement cost of the book.

5.      A fine of five cents per school day will be applied to overdue books after the first week. At this time, a note will be sent home to the parents to inform them of the situation. If this fine accumulates more than 60 days, the book will be considered lost, and the purchase of a NEW book or the replacement cost will be required.

6.      Library privileges may be permanently revoked if they are repeatedly abused.

7.      Library books are considered school property, and the loss or damage to them will result in replacement by the offender, either by the purchase of a NEW book, or by paying the replacement cost of the book.

8.      If restitution is not made within 30 days of the original notice to the parents, the Superintendent or designee will contact the school attorney for further collection action.
