CCCSD #161

NOTIFICATION OF ASBESTOS MANAGEMENT

On October 22, 1986, President Reagan signed into the law the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Act (AHERA), which enacted rules that require all Local Education Agencies (LEAS) School District, K-12, to inspect for the presence of asbestos in building materials that may have been used in school building construction and to document this information in a management plan.

The inspection and management plan at CCCSD #161 was accomplished by May 9, 1989. Accredited inspectors inspected all district-owned buildings for the presence of asbestos-containing materials, assessed the condition of the materials, estimated the quantities, and documented this information in a written report which showed the locations of the material, where bulk samples were taken, and showed the location of drawings.

A management planner developed a written management plan which explained how the school district removed the asbestos. Copies of all Inspection Reports and Management Plans for all buildings are located at the District Administration Office, Creston, Illinois 60113.
